Project Runway Episode 3
I missed last week’s episode because I went to the Lion King which was great although I thought the kid who played Simba didn’t actually sing. This week’s episode
Challenge: Create a high end, signature piece. The designers go to the Met and see a beautiful display gowns by top designers.
The budget was $500, the most in Project Runway history. They worked in teams of two and had two days to finish the project. You knew that there would be a surprise and of course, Tim came in and informed them that the teams must create a second ready to wear garment for $50 that is derived from another team’s design.
At the judging, Heidi says “one or more of you may be out.”
The winner: Mila with some weird ass three piece penguin interpretation. Ironically, the front page pattern at McCall’s is this black and white dress from Palmer /Pletsch.
The loser: Ping. It was probably time for her to go. As you know, I have little patience with designers who don’t know construction. I think Jesse is a tool, though. Hopefully he’ll go away soon.
Thoughts: I was astonished that they loved the sportswear signature piece by Mila. It was well constructed but it looked horrible to me. I really did not get it. Were the judges just thrilled with the three piece look over the ordinary gown? For the most part, I didn’t any of the pieces except Jay and Mia’s as having a high end look to it. I really was disappointed in the episode. They had $500 to make something extraordinary and this was all that they could come up with?

Thank you Jane. Like I said, I don’t sew but I thought the winning design was a total piece of crap.
I didn’t care for most of the stuff that came down the runway either. Designers have made better clothes for way less than $500.
As Tim always says….I’m worried.
I think that I’ve watched PR enough years that I have finally accepted the fact that the outfit or designer that I like the best WILL.NEVER.WIN.
If I had $500, I could do some amazing things. I don’t even think the time constraints the contestants had would thwart me.
I hated Milla’s ensemble. Total yuck. Frankly, I question HER taste level. Take THAT Michael Kors.
